Zimbabwean cricket legend Heath Streak has sadly passed away at the age of 49. The news of Streak’s death was announced by his wife, Nadine Streak, on her Facebook account. Streak had been battling with cancer, and on May 23, a Zimbabwean senator, David Coltart, relieved that the all-rounder had Stage 4 colon and liver cancer.

Just 10 days ago, on August 23, news of Streak’s death went viral on social media. Several former and current cricketers came out to mourn the all-rounder’s death, but the news was denied by Streak and his former teammate Henry Olonga on Twitter.
This time, however, the confirmation of Streak’s untimely death at just 49 has been confirmed by his father and his wife.
His father, Denis Streak, while talking with the Sunday News, said, “Heath had not been well for a while; for almost six months he was battling cancer. He died in the early hours at 1 AM”.
In his final moments, Streak was staying with his close ones at his family farm in Inyathi, Matabeleland North.

The former Zimbabwe skipper was the only bowler to pick 100 Test wickets for his country. He represented Zimbabwe in 65 Test matches and 189 ODIs. In a career spanning 12 years, Streak captained Zimbabwe from 2000 to 2004 an era where Zimbabwe were a formidable force to reckon with.
The all-rounder was no mug with the bat, having scored 1990 runs in Tests and 2943 runs in ODIs. Streak also had 1 century and 24 fifties to his name in international cricket.
