YearEnder 2022: WWE Top 5 Title Changes of the year 2022

1. Brock Lesnar wins the WWE Title 

The 2022 year started with the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar’s WWE Championship win at Day 1 PLE. After Roman Reigns tested positive for Covid-19, WWE added Brock Lesnar into a fatal 5-way match featuring Big E, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, and Kevin Owens. The match featured all superstars targeting Lesnar to keep him away from the match. However, it didn’t end well for them.

Brock Lesnar decimated the other competitors in the ring, eventually, ending the match with an F-5 to the champion Big E. The match is an all-time banger and a year opener for fans who saw the vicious Beast destroying and laying bodies in the squared ring.

2. Ronda Rousey wins the SmackDown Women’s Title from Charlotte Flair

Ronda Rousey won the 2022 Royal Rumble and challenged Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Title at WrestleMania 38. Unfortunately, the Baddest Woman on the Planet was unsuccessful to defeat The Queen on the Grandest Stage of All Time. However, she bagged another opportunity at WrestleMania Backlash in an “I Quit” match.

Both women competed in an intense match brutalizing each other. The match featured some of the best spots that engaged the live audience as well. The match ended in an upset for Charlotte Flair after she uttered the words “I Quit” locked in an armbar.

3. Liv Morgan wins the SmackDown Women’s Title

At Money in the Bank, Liv Morgan became the 2022 MITB Ladder match winner in a surprising turn of events. Many fans were happy to see her winning the MITB briefcase and later on cashed in the briefcase the same night. After Ronda Rousey’s brutal battle against Natalya, she wasn’t able to stand with her injured leg.

This led Liv Morgan a golden chance to cash the MITB briefcase. She challenged Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Title and ended her reign with a roll-up pin cover after Rousey failed to lock her in the Angle lock. With her title win, she won her first major title victory on the main roster.

4. Gunther decimates Ricochet to win the Intercontinental Title

Following WrestleMania 38, Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser made their main roster debut. As soon as the former NXT UK Champion debuted on the blue brand, he set his eyes on the top prize. He challenged Ricochet for the Intercontinental Title in June 2022. Despite Ricochet’s desperate attempts to stop Gunther. he failed to defend his title.

Fans saw Gunther brutally assaulting the high-flyer in the ring with his dynamic moves. Eventually, the match ended after the 35-year-old delivered a vicious powerbomb to Ricochet to win the Intercontinental Title.

5. Austin Theory wins the US Title at Survivor Series 

At Survivor Series, Austin Theory competed in a triple threat match alongside Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley. Theory presented a whole new gimmick in the US Title match. Although Lashley had the match under his control, it ended with a big upset for him. The 25-year-old star won the US Title in a controversial ending.

In the final moments of the match, Seth Rollins took control of the match targeting Austin Theory. However, Lashley speared him while Rollins attempted a falcon arrow on Theory. Thus landing Theory on Rollins to pin him for the US Title.
