Year Ender 2022 Esports Industry -” eSports will only grow and improve over time, ” feels Jai Shah, Co-founder of Orangutan Gaming: Like every other domain, eSports has witnessed its ups and downs over the last twelve months. From BGMI facing a ban to eSports getting recognition from the Government of India, 2022 had it all. One of the major takeaways from the year is the emergence of eSports Organizations. They have certainly been doing their best to carry forward the momentum in the coming years.


InsideSport exclusively caught up with Jai Shah and he shared his takeaways for 2022, also expressing his thoughts on the coming years.

Q: What are your thoughts on the Increase in Esports Tournament Prize Pools?

This year has seen significant growth in the community’s development and acceptance. The industry has improved as a whole because of the introduction of large non-endemic brands and their recognition of the untapped market. The most notable event this year was an esports competition that was televised on Star Sports 2. The same program’s viewership set numerous records, and the impact it had on the sector was huge. Competitive prize pools have been produced as a result of increased brand participation, viewership, team participation, and positive growth, and this will only improve over time.

Q: How important are Esports Degrees in Educational Institutions?

Ans. Educational institutions across the globe have recognized the importance of the esports industry. It is going to be a slow process to inculcate esports into our traditional curriculum. Telangana university is amongst the first few universities to have joined the revolution.

What are your thoughts on real-time Esports Streaming getting increased streaming platforms penetration like LOCO, Rooter, Glance Gaming, FB Gaming, and YouTube?

Today, everyone who follows someone wants to engage with them and see them in person. Live Streaming allows creators to interact with their audience in real-time while being authentic and unedited. Streaming is a way to interact with and be real to your audience, and it has helped creators flourish because it has allowed them to engage with their audience on a whole new level.

How much delighted are you with Increasing Esports Sponsorships and Advertising

Ans. With non-endemic brands like Too Yumm entering the industry, esports is beginning to gain traction. The viewership of esports has risen in the past year owing to the efforts the industry has been taking together. Potential Sponsors have come to understand the value of our industry, the untapped audiences, and how they could leverage it for their further growth. 

What are your thoughts on the Rise of Gaming Content creators?

Ans. Content Creators have helped increase our reach tremendously across all platforms. The content has not only created game awareness but also put our industry out there amongst all creators. Content Creation, in general, has opened doors to multiple revenue streams. From brand sponsorships to quality content creation for esports organizations and brands.

With all these things growing every day, the community can only go upwards. The recognition from the Indian Government will certainly help the industry as well as young enthusiasts.
