xQc banned on Twitch for watching Tokyo Olympics 2020 Highlights on Stream: Twitch’s biggest star, Félix Lengyel or popularly known as xQc, faced a ban on the platform today, July 28th, while he was streaming rebroadcasted clips from the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The Canadian streamer & ex-overwatch player who ranks 12th with 6 Million followers on the most followed streamers’ list on Twitch, is slammed with his fourth ban on the streaming platform since the start of 2020. xQc, Twitch, Twitch Ban, xQc banned, Tokyo Olympics 2020
According to reports, the reason behind his ban is watching Olympic highlights on stream which got him “live DMCA’d.” If the reports are correct, this has been done by Twitch to protect the Media Rights of the Olympic Committee and their partners. Many accounts on social media like Instagram and Twitter have already been banned for posting videos of Tokyo Olympics 2020 without rights that are currently held by NBC for the US Region.
After his first ban of this year, xQc posted on Twitter, “I THINK I GOT MY CHANNEL LIVE-DMCA’d. I TOOK NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AND THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FINE. REALLY DIDN’T EXPECT IT BUT I COULD’VE EASILY AVOIDED THIS. SORRY FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED INCLUDING THE VIEWERS. I’LL BE BETTER/SMARTER NEXT TIME AND FOLLOW GUIDELINES MORE STRICTLY”

While his first two bans were for one day only, his previous ban on November 25 lasted for a whole week. As Twitch doesn’t usually offer any statement regarding their actions on the platform, it is still unclear how long xQc has to suffer this restriction.
