WWE Smackdown: Former WWE Smackdown superstar Kalisto who got released earlier this year, has revealed a riveting story about the WWE legend Rey Mysterio. Kalisto revealed that he wanted to go one-on-one against Rey Mysterio in a Mask vs. Mask match.
The former WWE Superstar also revealed that he pitched the idea to Paul Heyman and Rey himself, and they were impressed with it. However, Kalisto could never convey this idea to Vince McMahon, the man who mattered to give a green light.
WWE Smackdown: Kalisto’s idea never got wings
Recently, Kalisto appeared on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast where he disclosed the idea that never got wings. When asked about his biggest WWE regret, he said,
“My biggest regret is not pitching my idea to Vince. Pretty much the whole world knew except for Vince. [I wanted to do] a Mask versus Mask match against Rey Mysterio. I had Rey’s blessing, Dominik’s blessing, every one. They all loved it. I showed it to Paul Heyman too. Paul said ‘This is genius, do it.’ I was like let’s do this! It’s just such a good story, it’s my biggest regret not talking to Vince about it. Right before I was going to, I got released.”
Rey and Kalisto were of the same built and two of the most exciting and high-flying Luchadors in the company. WWE not having a match between the two is definitely void to fill.

Rey Mysterio is all pumped and stoked to team up with his long-time friend Edge after over a decade. Rey will team up with his son Dominik and the Rated-R Superstar Edge on Smackdown this week to take on Roman Reigns & The Usos.
