Last week, Gunther defeated Rey Mysterio to retain the Intercontinental Championship. The Ring General is yet to be pinned on the blue brand who held the championship since his debut defeating Ricochet.

As per PWInsider, the list of competitors has been revealed which features the return of the former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. He was absent from on-screen appearances for a long time after his short feuds in a tag team mayhem. The list features Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar, Braun Strowman, Jinder Mahal, Butch, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Sami Zayn.
“As of 12 PM Eastern, here are the planned competitors for the WWE Smackdown World Cup tournament: *Braun Strowman, *Shinsuke Nakamura, *Sami Zayn, *Santos Escobar, *Rey Mysterio, *Jinder Mahal, *Butch, *Ricochet,” – PWInsider.
Shinsuke Nakamura and Santos Escobar will fight in the first round of the World Cup. The list might also feature the Celtic Warrior Sheamus who will come back from his kayfabe injury.
The SmackDown World Cup is similar to the one held before at WWE Crown Jewel 2018 when Shane McMahon defeated Dolph Ziggler to win the World Cup. It was the last-moment change of plans when Shane McMahon replaced The Miz after he wasn’t able to compete.

WWE SmackDown: WWE has also announced a women’s 6-pack challenge
As announced earlier, the upcoming episode of Friday Night SmackDown will feature a 6-pack challenge to determine Ronda Rousey’s next challenger. The 6-pack challenge includes superstars like Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Shotzi, Xia Li, Sonya Deville and Lacey Evans.

At Extreme Rules, Ronda Rousey regained her SmackDown Women’s Title back after defeating Liv Morgan in an Extreme Rules match. Since then, the champion is reigning with her title with one title defense against the returning Emma. Additionally, fans saw Ronda Rousey adapting her heel character once again to deal with her opponents and brutalize them.
