WWE President Nick Khan addresses CM Punk possibly returning back- ‘Best’

Nick Khan, "whether or not WWE would be interested in bringing back CM Punk following his firing from AEW,"

Will CM Punk join the WWE again? Since his abrupt termination from AEW earlier this month as a result of a physical altercation that occurred backstage during the All In pay-per-view, that has been the main question involving the former world champion.

WWE President Nick Khan was questioned about the prospect in an interview with ESPN on Tuesday when talking about the WWE’s merger with The UFC into TKO Group. He said, “Listen, we only have respect for Phil, We appreciate his run here. We appreciate what he did and tried to do with the UFC. Not many people can actually get in there and do what he did. So, when we have respect for Phil, we wish him nothing but the best.”

Nick Khan addresses CM Punk possibly returning back

The decision by AEW to terminate CM Punk’s contract with cause following his involvement in a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In the previous week was made public prior to the September 2nd broadcast of Collision. Tony Khan accepted responsibility for the choice, claiming that it was based on the unanimous counsel of a disciplinary committee and legal counsel.

Punk worked for WWE from 2005 to 2014 and won the world championship five times. He switched to the UFC after his turbulent time there and lost both of his professional contests. During his two-year run with AEW, he would take part in 33 fights and twice hold the AEW World Championship, with nearly half of that time spent recovering from injuries or serving a suspension.

Marc Raimondi of ESPN recently spent time with one of those men. Raimondi inquired of Nick Khan, “whether or not WWE would be interested in bringing back CM Punk following his firing from AEW,” as they discussed the WWE and UFC uniting under the new TKO Group Holdings.

Naturally, rumours regarding a potential WWE comeback started circulating on social media. After the events of All Out, it was said in early September that Punk had genuinely thought about making a WWE comeback while he was on the outs with AEW in late 2022 and early 2023. Punk planned to compete in the 2023 Royal Rumble in particular, although it is unknown whether WWE thought about taking him back or whether he would have received a release from AEW at the time.
