WWE News: WWE Hall of Famer praises John Cena for bringing cultural change in pro wrestling:
There are a lot of great wrestlers who have been associated with WWE over the years. From Hulk Hogan to The Undertaker, Steve Austin to Triple H to Andre the Giant, each era has had its set of superstars but, Steve Austin believes no one might have influenced the wrestling culture as much as John Cena.
As a new viral video highlighted Austin’s shredded physique to the world, despite his age it’s suspected that The Texas Rattlesnake could wrestle again, and John Cena has been mentioned as a potential opponent.
In an interview with Complex, Steve Austin said that the 16-time World Champion was responsible for bringing about a cultural shift in the sport of professional wrestling.
“I think the sneaker culture is cool in wrestling, but for me, a traditional guy who started off as a technical wrestler turned into a brawler, it wouldn’t have fit my style … Of course, [John] Cena comes first in my mind when I’m thinking about sneakers in the wrestling game, and he really went over the top with it … And going into the John Cena thing when he started pumping the things up. I was like, Cena’s really working for a sneaker deal here because it turned into a thing, and the crowd got behind it, and he’s one of those guys; what a tremendous career he had, and it affected so many people,” he said.
