However, the return of Karrion Kross might stop Gunther’s push as a main event superstar. The former NXT UK Champion had a dominating run in NXT UK with the longest title reign of 870 days.
As per the recent reports, Triple H might stick to Karrion Kross as the main event superstar for the fall and push him towards the title picture with Roman Reigns. Recently, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio speculated WWE might stop Gunther’s push due to the returning former NXT Champion.
”I’m not sure who Gunther is being built for, as he beat Nakamura but it felt like he wasn’t going to be in the top mix with Reigns and McIntyre. Gunther vs. McIntyre seemed natural but now it feels like McIntyre vs. Kross is more likely after the Reigns match,” noted Meltzer. [H/T Sportskeeda]
Gunther has been a top superstar since his NXT days and recently defended his Intercontinental Champion against Shinsuke Nakamura in an intense match. WWE fans loved the match with Gunther winning the match with a clear pinfall.

WWE News & Rumors: Karrion Kross might face Roman Reigns for a potential title match
A few weeks back, Karrion Kross returned to WWE and assaulted Drew McIntyre while he confronted Roman Reigns. The WWE Universe has buzzed since the former NXT Champion’s return.
As noted earlier, USA Network wants a WWE title to be featured on the red brand, and it is widely speculated that Roman Reigns will lose one of his titles soon. Karrion Kross will be playing a major role in the SmackDown brand becoming the top superstar. Currently, Reigns is scheduled to face Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle.
