WWE News: The original plans changed all of a sudden when Roman Reigns was tested positive for COVID-19 and missed the WWE Day 1 PPV event. He was scheduled to defend his title against the Beast Brock Lesnar, but at the last moment, Brock was drafted in the WWE Championship match and eventually won the title.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that the original plans were to have Seth Rollins defend the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 38. However, due to the change in plans at WWE Day 1, Rollins heading into Wrestlemania 38 as the WWE Champion has been scrapped.

On the other hand, despite Brock winning the WWE title, the storyline between Reigns and Beast has continued, and WWE might be pushing towards having a champion vs. champion at the grandest stage of them all.

WWE News: What next for Seth Rollins now?
After getting scrapped from his WWE title opportunity, Rollins is set to challenge his former Shield buddy Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at the WWE Royal Rumble PPV event. Rollins was handpicked by Adam Pearce in the last edition of Friday Night Smackdown to challenge Roman Reigns for the title.
The two former buddies have a 4-4 head-to-head record against each other and also have drawn a match via double count-out. In all likelihood, Roman Reigns is expected to retain the title to have a penultimate showdown against the Beast Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 38.
