Hulk Hogan recently appeared on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. During the conversation, he revealed that he was approached by Shane McMahon for a match at WrestleMania 39 but he declined it.
He said Shane McMahon called him and said “Hey, you got one more in you, old man?“
To which he replied, “Take it easy with the old man stuff, brother…Right now, my back needs a little more work, but that’s something we can talk about next year.” I’ve always wanted to have a retirement match.“
However, Hogan teased a WrestleMania 40 match against Stone Cold Steve Austin, rather than having a match against Shane McMahon.
What did WWE Hall of Famer, Hulk Hogan say about a WrestleMania 40 Match against Stone Cold Steve Austin?
Hulk Hogan mentioned that the primary reason for him to come back in 2002 to fight The Rock, was to face Stone Cold Steve Austin inside the ring. However, that didn’t take place.
Hogan said, “Me as a bad guy, as Hollywood Hogan, I could’ve tore the house down with him, because he was the ultimate good guy at that time.“
He went on to say that, he doesn’t know if it would even make sense, now that they both are older and wiser. However, if he has to fight, Stone Cold Steve Austin would be the perfect opponent.
“You’d have to be crazy at my age anyway. I just haven’t talked to him about anything like that ever, but if he would get in the ring, he would be the guy.”
Hulk Hogan was last seen on WWE television on January 23, 2023, where he along with Jimmy Hart opened ‘Raw is XXX’ show, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Monday Night Raw.
