According to the police, neither Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, nor Bajrang Punia shouted any hateful slogans. It also explicitly identified wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, claiming that neither of them nor the other wrestlers committed any hate speech.

“From the contents of the complaint and the video clip provided by the complainant, no cognizable offence of hate speech is made out. The protesting wrestlers are not seen raising any such slogan in this clip,” according to the police report.

“In this regard, it is submitted that upon perusal of a video clip provided by the complainant on a pen drive, it has been revealed that some unknown Sikh protesters are seen in the video clip who are raising slogans at the Jantar Mantar Protest site,” the police said in the report.

The next hearing has been set for July 7. The court requested an action-taken report (ATR) from the police on the complaint on May 25.

The police requested that the complaint be dismissed, saying, “It is requested that this Hon’ble Court that this complaint may be… dismissed.”
