Randy Orton: As the WWE Draft 2023 approaches, Randy Orton’s participation in the event is uncertain due to his extended absence from the ring. The former World Heavyweight Champion has been inactive for nearly a year, and his return to wrestling remains unclear. Despite this, there may be some potential benefits from the upcoming draft. The WWE Universe was panicked when Randy Orton suffered a severe back injury that forced him to step away from the ring. The Viper’s last appearance was on the May 20 episode of SmackDown, where medical personnel escorted him out of the arena. Later in 2022, it was announced that the accomplished multi-time World Champion underwent fusion surgery in Birmingham to address his injury. Currently, he is recuperating at home and appears to be in excellent shape.

Randy Orton: Is the WWE Superstar eligible for the WWE Draft 2023; Latest Randy Orton injury report

Despite his injury, Randy Orton is expected to be eligible for the WWE Draft 2023. Triple H confirmed during his SmackDown address that every superstar, including those injured or absent, will be included in the draft unless otherwise stated on future flagship shows. Therefore, there is a possibility that Randy Orton may still be drafted even though he has been out of action for some time.

In the WWE Draft 2023, superstars expected to be out of action for an extended period may not be immediately selected until they are deemed fit for a long-term wrestling run. This precedent was set in previous drafts and may shed light on the prospects of wrestlers like Randy Orton, Big E, and AJ Styles.

Unfortunately, Randy Orton’s injury occurred at an inopportune time. He was on the cusp of a highly anticipated rivalry with The Bloodline and reportedly declined the chance to co-headline SummerSlam 2022 alongside Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

It remains to be seen when The Viper will pursue his 15th World Championship, as only time will tell when he can return to the ring at total capacity.
