By competing for Ring of Honor and holding the ROH Pure and ROH Global Titles, Nigel McGuinness established himself as a professional wrestler. He competed in the company alongside many other legendary wrestlers, like Bryan Danielson, Kevin Steen (Seth Rollins), Tyler Black, and many others.
McGuinness also spent a year performing in TNA as Desmond Wolfe, but his time in the ring was limited, and in 2011 he started a retirement tour. McGuinness then returned to Ring of Honor as an announcer, and in 2016 he was hired by WWE. During his six years with the business, which ended in October 2022, he worked on shows including NXT, 205 Live, Main Event, and NXT Britain.

ROH ring announcer Bobby Cruise revealed McGuinness as the surprise announcer for the evening as he joined Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman at the announce table before Supercard of Honor aired live on pay-per-view.
The timing of McGuinness’ entry into AEW may prove intriguing because Tony Khan has promised a major announcement on Dynamite, and the Englishman’s entrance may be a clue as to when the rumoured show in London, England, would take place.
