Wrestlers Protest: In a bid to charge file a chargesheet in the court before June 15, The Delhi Police is said to have sought CCTV Footage from the Wrestling Federations of five nations where Wrestling Federation of India Chief Brij Bhushan Saran Singh is alleged to have sexually harassed the Indian Wrestlers. According to reports, the police is said to have sent notices to the Wrestling Federations in Indonesia, Bulgaria. Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and Kazakhstan.

In their FIR filed on April 21, the Indian Wrestlers alleged that they were harassed by Brij Bhushan Saran Singh during the tournaments in the aforementioned five nations. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the Delhi Police have confirmed that the notices were sent to the Wrestling Federations within a week after the registration of FIR.
“We had written to different federations within a week of lodging the FIRs and some of them have even replied. I don’t know why the issue is being raked up again, said a senior police official, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
Currently the wrestlers had halted their protest after getting an assurance from Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on June 7 that a charge-sheet will be filed against Singh by June 15. It is reported that the statements from over 200 people that includes protesting wrestlers, coaches and referees have been recorded by the police.
Few days back the Delhi Police had also taken a women wrestler to Brij Bhushan’s office to recreate the sequence of events that led to the alleged crime. Also four of the six women wrestlers have provided audio and visual evidence to back their allegations of harassment.
Meanwhile, The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has planned to conduct the impending Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections on July 4. Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has assured the Wrestlers that Brij Bhushan Sarean SIngh and his associates will not be contesting in the upcoming elections.
