WWE SmackDown: Official Reports on Last Week’s Low Viewership Count on Friday Night SmackDown
Last week’s Friday Night SmackDown featured some of the top superstars. Even WWE brought a Raw Superstar for a talk show on SmackDown. Superstars like Drew McIntyre and Ronda Rousey competed in the recent episode of SmackDown. Despite their presence, WWE dropped a big margin of viewership after the first hour of the show.
Smackdown was outranked by Celtics-Heat (2.41 P18-49 rating, 7.2 million viewers), the Avalanche-Blues NHL game (0.55) and two telecasts of Sportscenter after the NBA game. pic.twitter.com/WqpBu3RD4i

According to the latest reports from ShowBuzz Daily, WWE drew 1.87 million viewership and 0.49 in the key 18-49 demographic. The reports suggest that Friday Night SmackDown viewership dropped about 8% from last week and a key demo saw a 4% fall. However, the fall in viewership can be explained due to ongoing NBA playoffs, which affected the majority of the audience.
The recent episode of SmackDown featured Ronda Rousey in a tag team match alongside Raquel Rodriguez. Also, WWE fans saw Raw Superstar Kevin Owens in the KO Show with former Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn. In the main event of the show, the Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre made his return in a six-man tag team match against the Brawling Brutes.

WWE SmackDown: Does Roman Reigns’ Absence Affect Friday Night SmackDown?
The Undisputed Universal Champion is the face of Friday Night SmackDown. Precisely, he brought back the ratings for Friday Night SmackDown since his heel turn. However, the downfall of the show is once again on its way due to the absence of its star wrestler.
Recently, Roman Reigns signed a new deal with WWE, which allowed him to work on fewer dates. In addition, Reigns won’t be available on every episode of SmackDown, which has lessened the interest of many fans. This is might be the major reason SmackDown is seeing a downfall in viewership.
Although WWE has the SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and other top superstars, Roman Reigns’ absence still marks a big point for the blue brand.
