WrestleMania 39: Triple H never considered splitting WWE Undisputed Universal Title even if Roman Reigns vs The Rock took place at WrestleMania Hollywood
Last month, several reports claimed WWE will split the Undisputed Universal Title before WrestleMania 39 and eventually Roman Reigns will defend the titles separately on both nights. As noted, Cody Rhodes would get another title shot if The Rock returned to face Roman Reigns.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio gave an update on WrestleMania’s plans, where he mentioned WWE had plans for a second title defense on WrestleMania Night 1.
“The key to this is that they are not creating a new championship on the Saturday night show. Yeah, they were talking about doing a second title on Saturday night.
If it was Roman and The Rock, then they were going to create a championship on Saturday night that Cody would have probably ended up winning. But, it was Cody, Drew, or Rollins that was gonna come out of that one. They were creating a second one, because they want to go back to two titles.”
We can confirm that "Roman Reigns was never scheduled for two defenses. If Rock was in, Rock was in. Never two defenses." Any talk of splitting up the titles is misinformed talk about changing title designs.

Ringside News also shed light on the whole confusion of splitting the unified titles where a tenured member of the creative team mentioned “Roman Reigns was never scheduled for two defenses. If Rock was in, Rock was in. Never two defenses.”
It was cleared that the root cause of the confusion was “behind-the-scenes information about re-doing a number of WWE belts.” Hence, Roman Reigns was never scheduled to defend his titles on both nights and even Cody Rhodes, coming into the picture had no change in plans. It is clear that in both situations, Roman Reigns would have walked in as the Undisputed Universal Champion at WrestleMania 39.
