WWE News- Brock Lesnar returned to ruin CM Punk’s AEW debut buzz? The United Center in Chicago Illinois’ roof was blown away with CM Punk chants. Fans were thrilled to see their icon back in a squared circle again, but one man who wasn’t impressed by Punk’s return was WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. To tackle the buzz created with Punk’s return, Vince decided to bring back Brock Lesnar, and reports suggest that it was an incredibly last-minute decision.

WWE News: Brock Lesnar’s return was because of CM Punk’s AEW debut

As per the latest reports from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Brock Lesnar was brought back to counter the buzz created by CM Punk’s AEW debut. Also, it was a last-minute call of Vince McMahon to have the Beast Incarnate back in the company.

“That was confirmed by those closest to the situation say it was later than that, saying it was literally a last-minute deal that was put together for a number of reasons, all in some form related to FOX, C.M. Punk showing up in AEW and John Cena leaving.”

Dave Meltzer’s report further stated that FOX wanted WWE to make a move to counter or at least match the hype created by CM Punk’s AEW debut. Meltzer wrote that responding to FOX’s frustration Vince decided to bring back Becky Lynch & Brock Lesnar on the same night and have them on the Blue brand.

“FOX was very upset that WWE didn’t make a big offer to Punk to keep him from going to AEW, and politically, WWE felt the need to get Lesnar and Lynch to Smackdown right away.”

WWE News: When will Brock Lesnar collide with Roman Reigns?

Lesnar’s return at Summerslam saw him confronting Roman Reigns, and just when it seemed like he would be the next man to challenge the Head of the Table for the Universal Championship, Finn Balor re-entered the championship picture.

The current plan is to have Finn Balor vs. Roman Reigns at the Extreme Rules PPV where Finn would be nothing but a scapegoat for Roman, and Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns at the October’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. However, these plans remain in talks.
