WWE News: Triple H and his creative team are reportedly done with famous championship in WWE

Now, according to a report from Fightful, there is another thing the creative team of Triple H is done with. Going by the report, it seems that Triple H has made the decision to officially retire the WWE 24/7 Championship. The last holder of the belt was Nikki Cross who defeated Dana Brooke to win the gold. After winning the title last month, Cross dumped the belt in the trash, indicating the end of the 24/7 championship era.

A source who spoke to Fightful said the WWE 24/7 Championship“was almost never mentioned in a creative sense” backstage in production meetings, but allowed for some fun moments at live events. The future of the title seemed to be up in the air and it wasn’t something that we heard Triple H ever talked about.” (via Sescoops)

WWE News: Jeff Hardy felt ashamed to run after the WWE 24/7 Championship

The belt which was pretty active during Vince McMahon’s reign was introduced by Hardcore legend Mick Foley. Titus O’Neil became the first 24/7 Champion as he won a battle royal but could not hold on to the prize for long.

In 2021, a segment witnessed Jeff Hardy wanting to win the WWE 24/7 championship.  The segment was criticized by many who felt that the former Tag Team Champion deserves to be better utilized by the promotion. Speaking on Talk Is Jericho, Jeff admitted to being ashamed of running after the 24/7 Championship.

“I was pretty crushed that day, I was like, ‘Okay, this is it, I don’t know why I am here, they’re really doing this to me,’” Jeff said. “That’s not an arrogant thing to say … I shouldn’t be doing that, but I did it and I was like, ‘Man, what does this mean?’” (H/T –Wrestling Inc)
