WWE News: Ronda Rousey recalls frustration over lack of women’s matches at WrestleMania Backlash
At WrestleMania Backlash, Ronda Rousey defeated Charlotte Flair in an “I Quit” match to win the SmackDown Women’s Title for the first time. However, the 34-year-old wasn’t happy with WWE’s booking with the women’s division. The premium live event included 7 matches with only 1 match dedicated to the women’s division.
In a recent YouTube video posted by the Baddest Woman on the Planet, the SmackDown Women’s Champion mentioned her displeasure regarding WWE’s utilisation of the female division. She also highlighted that she was ready to call out the global juggernaut.
“I wanted to call out WWE for only having one women’s match out of six matches at Backlash. We’re more than one-sixth of the company and I need to do my part and make sure more women are at the forefront. Also, I don’t want to say ‘women’s’ in the title anymore. I think they were kind of resistant to taking it out. I was like, ‘can I just not have to say it?’ That’s kind of where it’s at,” Rousey said. [H/T Fightful]
In Rousey’s recent vlog, she also discussed her feud with the former NXT Champion Raquel Rodriguez and other new feuds approaching her as she won the SmackDown Women’s Title for the second time.
