Recently in an interview with Ryan Satin on the ‘Out of Character’ podcast, Rhodes was asked if there were any plans of him coming to WWE apart from WrestleMania. He was also asked if would return to Jacksonville a week before the Show of Shows. Here is what the American Nightmare said.
“I mean, as far as my understanding the plan was always WrestleMania and nothing was ever considered. At one point, I saw people talking about Jacksonville, and that’s a no. Again, it’s not about leaving. It was about returning and the place to do it was at the Showcase of Immortals.”
“The biggest stage there is in what we do, undisputed is WrestleMania. There was a lot of synergy and love over the fact that it was Dallas, Texas. That is where I had my last WrestleMania with the ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship.”
At WrestleMania 38, Rhodes returned as the surprise opponent for Seth Rollins. Both superstars put on a brilliant match with Rhodes coming out on top.
Seth Rollins vs Cody Rhodes II at WrestleMania Backlash
Since his loss to Rhodes at WrestleMania 38, Rollins kept claiming the reason for his loss was because Rhodes was a surprise opponent. The visionary believes if he had time to prepare for Rhodes he would have defeated him.
The former Universal Champion challenged Rhodes for part two of their WrestleMania match. Rhodes accepted and now both superstars will face each other at WrestleMania Backlash. The two superstars put on a stellar show at WrestleMania and delivering the same quality match at Backlash will take some work.
