The Elimination Chamber is an elimination-based match in WWE. The founder of Elimination Chamber is Chris Jericho and Eric Bischoff is the one who created and introduced it. The first elimination chamber match was held in 2002 and since then 30 Elimination Chamber matches are held in WWE.

How does WWE Elimination Chamber work?

The Elimination Chamber Match is mainly a variation of elimination-based matches that bring out elements from Hell in a cell and Steel cage matches, where the ring is surrounded by a large steel cage supported by gliders. Inside the Elimination Chamber are four pods or inner chambers which face the outside of each ring post. The match is generally contested between six to seven participants with two or three participants in the ring and the other four inside their pods. At regular intervals, participants from within the inner chamber or pods enter the match. This goes on until all of the four participants within the pods are out. Generally five minutes is taken as the entrance interval but four minutes and three minutes intervals are also used.

The main aim of the participants is to eliminate their opponents by pinfall or submission. Since 2010, all submissions and pinfalls should take place within the ring.

The participant remaining last when all others have been eliminated is declared the winner of the match.

Six-Man Tag Team Matches also follow the same rules. In matches involving six tag teams, two teams start the match, with other four teams inside their pods and at regular intervals new teams keep entering the ring.
