Bad Bunny has impressed in his limited WWE appearances, but his first one-on-one match at Backlash will be a new challenge. He is familiar with opponent Priest, and the street fight stipulation means other Superstars will get involved. With Bad Bunny’s high-flying moves and the added chaos from stables LWO and The Judgment Day, it has the potential to be the most entertaining match of the night.

After Rhodes lost to Reigns at WrestleMania 39, Lesnar attacked him, setting up a match at Backlash. Rhodes sees it as a chance to get another shot at Reigns. However, WWE is telling an underdog story with Rhodes, so he could lose to create more adversity. With both Rhodes and Lesnar as great performers, their match at Backlash could be a classic.

The SmackDown Women’s Championship match at Backlash between Rhea Ripley and Zelina Vega will have a Puerto Rican flavor, with Vega being of Puerto Rican descent and part of the LWO stable. Ripley is expected to win, but Vega has shown to be an exciting in-ring worker and could deliver an excellent performance. Ripley’s size and strength should complement Vega’s speed and athleticism, making for an entertaining match.

Rollins is a top contender to win the new world heavyweight championship. At the same time, Omos is built up as an imposing figure by defeating lower-level talent before losing to established stars in a surprise moment. This is a common trope in professional wrestling, not a knock on Omos. However, it’s unlikely that Rollins will lose to Omos so close to Night of Champions.

It’s time to give Theory a break from the U.S. championship scene. While he has tried his best, his recent stint as champion has had mixed results, including losing in a triple-threat match against two formidable opponents. Bobby Lashley is overdue for a win and could be positioned as a dominant champion on SmackDown, filling the void left by Reigns’ absence as the undisputed WWE universal champion. SmackDown needs a credible leading event champion, and Lashley could be the one to fill that role.

Belair has been a fantastic women’s champion, and while her reign may be nearing its end, there are few challengers currently in an excellent position to dethrone her. A strong, closely contested match with Sky could help establish her as a potential future champion, but it’s too early to give her a significant push.

Backlash 2023: Matt Riddle, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs. The Usos & Solo Sikoa

Although The Bloodline desperately needs a win, they should lose at the upcoming event. This may be the final confrontation between them and the opposing trio, and a victory for Riddle, Zayn, and Owens will elevate their status on Raw. Meanwhile, the conflict within The Bloodline can continue to simmer on SmackDown. It appears that a Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso feud is on the horizon, which was a highlight of the Thunderdome era but lacked a live audience. A Jey Uso face turn could be well-received by the fans. Furthermore, The Bloodline can quickly regain its momentum against new adversaries on SmackDown.
