Backlash 2023 Prediction: Brock Lesnar vs Cody Rhodes
Winner: Cody Rhodes
I predict that Bad Bunny and Damian Priest will likely headline Backlash. Still, the main event of the event is the clash between Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes, despite it not being a championship match, and I expect Rhodes to come out victorious. Losing to Roman Reigns with interference at WrestleMania is one thing, but losing at two consecutive premium events to the champion and the perennial number-one contender is a different story. Therefore, Cody needs to secure a win to remain on top unless Triple H, Bruce Prichard, and the creative team have a much longer-term plan for him.
Furthermore, I don’t believe Brock Lesnar needs to win this match. He already defeated Omos at WrestleMania, and I suspect there’s a chance he may take a hiatus from wrestling for a while after this event. As we learned during the draft, Lesnar can appear on either brand moving forward, and WWE can use that flexibility to bring him back wherever he makes the most sense down the line.
Backlash 2023 Prediction: Bad Bunny vs Damien Priest
Winner: Bad Bunny
Logan Paul to Snoop Dogg and now Bad Bunny. At Backlash, the Puerto Rican singer, who is also hosting the event, is expected to emerge victorious over Damien Priest (Judgement Day) with some assistance from Rey Mysterio.
The match could potentially involve a showdown between LWO, Rey Mysterio, and other Judgement Day wrestlers, culminating in Bad Bunny getting the winning fall. This could set the stage for further storyline development between Rey Mysterio and LWO, leading to a potential match-up between the two sides at Night of the Champions.
