Three Kazakh males broke into the man’s villa at a resort in Cherng Talay, according to a story from The Phuket News. The man was apparently chained and gagged before being severely beaten for several hours. In the end, the three men are alleged to have boarded a flight from Phuket to Dubai carrying more than 12 million baht ($338,000) in cash and personal belongings.

On September 5, Cherng Talay police superintendent Pol Col Chalermchai announced the arrests.

The following day, the Provincial Phuket Court issued arrest orders for both Khusein Askhabov and his twin brother, Khasan Askhabov. The two brothers were detained in accordance with the warrants and are being prosecuted for “the act of robbery done through cruelty to the extent that others receive it and endangering the body or mind through torture.”
