WTC Points Table – Sri Lanka Overtakes India: Sri Lanka registered a huge 187 runs win over West Indies in the 1st Test at Galle on Thursday and leapfrogged India to claim the top spot in World Test Championship Points Table. ICC on Thursday released a photo of WTC points after the conclusion of the SL vs WI Test with the caption “Sri Lanka on top.” In the latest released points table, Sri Lanka is sitting at the top followed by India and Pakistan at second and third position. WTC Points Table: Sri Lanka claim top spot after massive win over Windies, India slip to 2nd place

Sri Lanka registerd 187 runs win over West Indies in the first Test at Galle today and took 1-0 lead in the 2-match series. Chasing 348 runs target in the 4th innings, the Windies were bowled out for 160 runs as Ramesh Mendis picked up a 5-fer in the second innings.

For Sri Lanka, skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, spinner Ramesh Mendis and Lasith Embuldeniya were the architects in the win. Dimuth Karunaratne scored a century in the first innings (147) and followed it up with 83 runs knock in the second innings. Ramesh Mendis picked up 8 wickets in total while Embuldeniya chipped in with 5 wickets in total.

After the conclusion of the match, ICC shared a photo of the WTC points table on its Twitter handle with the caption, “Sri Lanka on  top. The ICC #WTC23 points table after the first #SLvWI Test.”

Having won the only Test played so far in the current WTC cycle, Sri Lanka have 100 percent percentage of points (PCT) in comparison to India who have their PCT at 54.17. India have won two Tests, lost one, and drawn one so far in the WTC cycle, and can claim the top spot depending upon the outcome of the first Test which is underway in Kanpur.
