WTC Final 2023: Rohit Sharma & Co will have a short preparatory camp before the ICC World Test Championship Final immediately after IPL 2023 Final. India Cricket Team will leave for London on June 1 three days after the IPL Final on May 28. After a short camp in London, India will move to the official venue – Kennington Oval – to continue with the preparations. However, it should be noted that India have not officially qualified for the WTC Final. India still need a win to confirm their place in the WTC Final (June 1). Australia and SriLanka are the other two teams in the fray for the coveted final. Follow IND vs AUS LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

“Yes, we are discussing with the ECB for a venue for a short camp. We may have a camp somewhere in London before moving to the Oval as per official ICC guidelines. But it’s not yet finalised. We should have confirmation in the next two weeks,” the official told InsideSport.

Jasprit Bumrah Injury Update: Out of IPL 2023 and WTC Final, concerned BCCI asks Bumrah to undergo surgery to be fit for World Cup 2023, Follow LIVE Updates

InsideSport understands that even though India have not officially qualified, BCCI is confident that it would not be a problem for the team. Hence, BCCI has already begun preparations. As India are unlikely to emulate English conditions in India during May-June, India will head to London to get acclimatised to the conditions as well as prepare under Rahul Dravid.

Focus on pacers and all-rounders in IPL 2023: With the WTC Final next target, BCCI will keep a tab on the workload of all-rounders and pacers. BCCI has already learned a harsh lesson regarding Jasprit Bumrah who is set to spend another 5-6 months on the sidelines. Now, BCCI is all set to issue special instructions to IPL franchises on the workload management plan.

NCA will work closely with the IPL franchises on workload with World Cup 2023 in mind. A special set of instructions on injury management and overs bowled will go for WTC Final if India qualify. Ravindra JadejaShardul ThakurMohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj will get special attention while playing in Indian Premier League.

All players in World Cup plan will be monitored by the NCA throughout IPL. It will be a busy time. But before that, we have to consider WTC Final. As there is no Bumrah in WTC, the pace department will get special attention. Considering Jadeja’s impact as an all-rounder, he is crucial to our plans and NCA will be in touch with CSK to keep a tab on his workload management. The same goes for Siraj, Shami and Shardul,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

However, despite there will be no blanket workload management. Instead, players will be dealt with on a case-to-case basis. Injury-prone players like Ravindra Jadeja, Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami will be monitored with NCA keeping a tab on their workload (Number of overs bowled, number of minutes on the crease etc.).

“The idea is to keep players as fresh as possible. With high-intensity matches like IPL, it is difficult. But we have to do as much as possible to keep them ready,” the official added.
