WTC Final 2023: Team India will take on Australia in the much-awaited World Test Championship Final 2023 (WTC Final 2023) from June 7 at Oval. As the fixture gets closer, talks about the squads, potential starting XI, and the predicted result are gradually intensifying, with Australia great Ricky Ponting serving as the catalyst. Suryakumar Yadav’s exclusion from the Indian Test lineup surprised Ponting, but he chose an extraordinary “X-factor” for the summit match.

The squads for the crucial final have been announced by Australia and India. Since some seasoned players are missing from the roster due to injuries, things have been a little difficult for the Indian team. In order to assemble a solid squad, the selectors hand-picked the top choices.

Ishan Kishan, an Indian wicketkeeper-batter, is a “X Factor,” in Ponting’s opinion, and his involvement in the team could help India win the summit clash. The Aussie great also compared Ishan Kishan to Rishabh Pant.

“But there is another X factor that has just been added in Ishan Kishan. If you look at the way he plays, he is probably the most like Rishabh Pant with his potential to keep and bat in the middle order,” Ponting said on Friday at an ICC event.

WTC Final 2023: SuryaKumar Yadav should be in main squad?

As a result of Shreyas Iyer’s injury and India’s desire to capitalise on his T20 performance, Suryakumar received his Test debut earlier this year during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. He was later cut from the initial roster for the WTC Final because he had not performed well in the one opportunity he got.

Later, the 32-year-old was included in the squad as a reserve player alongside Mukesh Kumar and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
