Muguruza ended the Estonian’s 12-match winning streak in the round-robin portion of the competition, and repeated the feat in the singles final.

Muguruza vs Kontaveit Live: Muguruza began her WTA year-end campaign on a losing note after being defeated by Wimbledon finalist Karolina Pliskova in three sets. Muguruza won the opening set. However, in the following match, Spaniard bounced back and defeated French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova in three sets. In the final round-robin match, Garbine Muguruza edged out Pliskova and secured her semifinal berth by defeating Anett Kontaveit in straight sets.

Murguruza, No.6 seed from Spain defeated No.8 seed Anett Kontaveit of Estonia, 6-3, 7-5, to capture her third and biggest title of the year on Wednesday night in front of an excited crowd in Guadalajara. Muguruza fought back from a break down in the second set, winning the last four games of the match. The Spaniard was able to prevail in an hour and 38 minutes this time around, improving to 4-2 overall against Kontaveit.
The former world number one and two-time Grand Slam champion Muguruza, who was a semifinalist of the WTA Finals in 2015, also became the oldest champion since Serena Williams won it in 2014.
