Wrestlers Protest: In a shocking revelation, numerous instances of groping, inappropriate touching and physical contact have been put on record by two women wrestlers in their complaint against WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Saran Singh. The separate complaints filed by two of the seven women wrestlers to the Delhi Police is said to list out atleast eight incidents of sexual harassment by the president of the Wrestling Federation of India. According to Indian Express, both the complainants have listed out several instances when Brij Bhushan misbehaved with them during tournaments, warm-ups, training and even at the Wrestling Federation of India office.
The names of the wrestlers have been kept anonymous, however as per the first complainant, one instance was at a restaurant during a tournament in 2016. Singh is said to have allegedly touched her breast and stomach after asking her to join him at the table. “I did not feel like eating, sleep was disturbed and I was distressed,” the complainant revealed in her statement.
In another incident, she revealed a groping incident when she was called to the WFI office that’s located within Singh’s MP bungalow at 21, Ashoka Road in New Delhi. “On the first day, Singh touched the thighs and shoulder without the consent. Two days later, he touched the breast and put hand on the stomach saying he wanted to check the breathing pattern.”

She stated that she had to wriggle out of the hug as his hand was close to her breast, as stated in the complaint.
The second complainant, meanwhile has alleged that, Singh tried to lift her training jersey without her consent in 2018. She also added that he touched her breast and stomach saying he wanted to check her breathing pattern.
She has also revealed a second incident occurred a year later at the WFI office. As per the statment registered, “When she entered his office, Singh allegedly asked the others in the office to leave, following which he allegedly pulled her close and tried to grope her.”
While the Delhi Police have registered a case under POCSO as the compainants include miors, Brij Bhushan has not been questioned yet.The country’s top wrestlers tthat includes Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik have been protesting for over a fortnight demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan Saran Singh.
The Supreme Court on Friday closed the case filed by the protesting wrestlers citing purpose of the petition has been fulfilled as a case has been registered against the WFI Chief. The Wrestlers however are continuing their protests and have said that their stir would continue at Jantar Mantar until the arrest of Brij Bhusan Saran SIngh.
