Former India skipper Diana Edulji describes the event as significant since it would propel female cricket players into the highest-paid group of athletes in the following years. She said, “History is going to be created on Monday when the women cricketers will be going under the hammer for the first time, no women’s league has auctioned worldwide barring WPL.”

With a base price of Rs 50 lakh for the majority of the top players, they are guaranteed to bring in a lot of money at the auction. This will make them perhaps among the most-paid athletes in the world, even ahead of the Women’s Super League (Women’s EPL).
The average salary for WSL football players is Rs 46,78,974.49, which is not even the starting payment for players like Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana. The highest salary in the Women’s Big Bash League is Rs 30,86,132.11. Because of this, not just those from India, but players from all over the world are anxiously anticipating WPL’s auction results.
A total of 1525 players have registered for the WPL auction but BCCI shortlisted 409 players. Additionally, the WPL teams only have Rs 12 crore available to them to spend. In the Indian Premier League, each franchise has a salary budget of Rs 95 crore.
There should be a minimum of 15 players on each squad and a maximum of 18 players. At least five international players will aim to be incorporated into each team. According to a press release from the BCCI, there are a total of 90 slots available with the five teams, with 30 of those positions reserved for foreign players.
