RCB is having a nightmare in the inaugural edition of the WPL. Smriti Mandhana-led team has not won any game out of the five matches they have played so far. The equation for them to qualify for the playoffs is a tough one, as they cannot finish either first or second on the table. However, they still have a slim chance of making it to the knockout rounds by finishing third.
The Banglore-based franchise needs to ensure that it wins each of the next three games. And they need to hope that UPW loses all of their remaining games. Similarly, they need to hope that GG doesn’t win more than one more game in the tournament. Due to RCB’s poor Net Run Rate (NRR), if they finish on equal points with other teams, they are unlikely to finish above them in the table.
Meanwhile, RCB men’s team have suffered a body blow ahead of IPL 2023 as all-rounder Will Jacks will miss the entire season due to injury. According to ESPN Cricinfo, the youngster sustained a muscle injury while fielding in England’s victory in their second ODI against Bangladesh. The three-time finalist signed Jacks, who made his debut across international formats this winter, for a hefty price of INR 3.2 crores at the auction held in Kochi in December 2022.
