WPL 2023 Auction: India U19 Women WC Champions – The India U19 girls won the inaugural U19 T20 World Cup beating England in the final on Sunday. There were a couple of young players in the Indian camp who had an exceptional tournament. Shweta Sehrawat ended as the tournament’s leading run-getter, while Parshavi Chopra was the leading wicket-taker. 1)Shweta Sehrawat
Shafali Verma was expected to set the stage alight with her batting considering the amount of international experience she had. However, her opening Shweta Sehrawat out batted her in the tournament to become the team’s leading run-getter. She finished the tournament with 297 runs at an average of 99 and an impressive strike rate of 139.43. Sherawat had three half-centuries to her name as well. After such an impressive performance all the teams will be eyeing for her signature.
2)Parshavi Chopra
Parshavi Chopra was the leading wicket-taker for India in the U-19 T20 World Cup. Overall she was the second-best bowler with 11 wickets to her name in the six matches she played. The 16-year-old can trouble the opposition with disciplined bowling. The leg spinner was sensational in the final picking up two wickets and giving away only 13 runs from four overs. The youngster will be a sure-shot pick during the WPL auction.
3) Mannat Kashyap
The slow left-arm spinner was the second-best bowler for Indian women in the tournament. The Patiala spinner picked up nine wickets during the tournament with 4-12 against Scotland being her best bowling figures. Kashyap has made rapid progress and the WPL experience will certainly help her to raise her game.
4) Soumya Tiwari
The young girl was impressive during the tournament showing her ability to not only hold innings from one end, but also the match deep. Her unbeaten knock of 24 runs in the final of the World Cup showed her mental toughness as well after India had lost a couple of early wickets. Tiwari will be keeping her fingers crossed and also hoping that her performance will earn her WPL contract in the maiden season.
5) Titas Sadhu
The Bengal seamer was impressive during the tournament, giving early breakthroughs to the team early in the innings. The right-arm bowler took six wickets in the tournament at a miserly rate which helped the Indian team. She performed exceptionally well during the final picking up two early wickets and giving away just six runs from her four overs. WPL teams will not hold back while biding for the young pacer
