It is now official that World Cup 2023 Schedule will be unveiled at an event in Mumbai on June 27, Tuesday. After a long delay due to Pakistan Cricket Board playing spoilsport, the WC Schedule will be out to mark 100 days to go for the mega event. The 50-over ODI WC begins 5th October.
The drama regarding release of the World Cup Schedule has been agitating fans for a long time given the ongoing tension between the BCCI and the PCB. The two apex cricket bodies of rival nations has been at each other’s throats. PCB is yet to send their approval for the draft schedule that has been sent by the ICC.

“We have written to the ICC that we can’t give approval or disapproval to this [World Cup schedule]. It’s our government who has to decide, just like when it comes to India, it’s their government that decides when they go to play,” said Najam Sethi who stepped down from his role of interim Chairman.
The Pakistan Cricket Board have made it clear that they can only send their approval once their Government gives the green signal for the match venues. The PCB made it clear that they won’t play against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad citing Safety concerns. As a result, the game is likely to be shifted to Chennai.

However, that is not all. The PCB then went on to object facing Afghanistan in Chennai and Australia in Bengaluru. PCB emphasized that they are not comfortable facing a heavily spin dependent Afghan team in a spin friendly track in Chennai. PCB want to face Afghanistan in Bengaluru and Australia in Chennai. However, the BCCI has paid no heed to the matter and have rejected the request.
It is these delays that have been holding up the release of the ICC World Cup Schedule. Now, as soon as the clearance is sent by the PCB, the ICC will release the schedule, and 27th June looks the most probable date for the release.
