Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) requested a venue change for their matches against Afghanistan and Australia in the upcoming 2023 World Cup. As per the draft, Babar Azam’s side faces Afghanistan in Chennai, and Australia in Bengaluru. With the World Cup 2023 schedule yet to be revealed, PCB analysts have proposed a venue swap. The ICC meanwhile are pushing for the IND vs PAK to be held in Ahmedabad.
As per Cricket Pakistan, PCB analysts studied data for Babar Azam’s side heading into the 2023 World Cup. Najam Sethi-led board requested a late change – swap Afghanistan and Australia clash venues.

Chennai is known for favouring spinners, which creates a test for Pakistan. Afghanistan boast the likes of Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman in their ranks As a result, Pakistan requested that their matches against Australia and Afghanistan be swapped. Some PCB officials feel India purposefully scheduled games where Pakistan may face difficulties with pitch conditions, practice facilities and travel arrangements.
Meanwhile, the ICC emphasised the importance of income and insisted that the India vs Pakistan match be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Ahmedabad stadium has a capacity of 100,000. Pakistan stated that it will seek authorization from its government before making any pledges. Before delivering any assurance, they prioritise acquiring the appropriate approvals.
Insidesport understands that the IND vs PAK game will be held in Chennai. Pakistan will play their other league matches in Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. However, if Pakistan makes it to the semifinals or final, they will play games at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
