World Cup 2023: With the Asia Cup 2023 shocker, Pakistan’s participation in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India is now under major clouds of doubt. Pakistan’s participation in the ICC Cricket World Cup has yet to be confirmed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to the International Cricket Council (ICC). Although Pakistan has not provided a written commitment that they will participate in the event, the ICC and the BCCI are all prepared to announce the tournament’s schedule after the ongoing IPL 2023.

The majority of Pakistan’s matches are anticipated to be played in southern Indian cities like Bengaluru and Chennai, with their likely match against India taking place in Ahmedabad at Narendra Modi Stadium.

World Cup 2023: PCB cant give any assurance to ICC

Pakistan Board cant give any assurance to International Cricket Council about its participation in the global event.

“India coming to Pakistan and Pakistan going to India doesn’t depend either on BCCI or PCB. So, PCB can’t give any assurance to ICC about its participation in the global event.”

“It is the Pakistan government that will give approval just like in case of BCCI, it can only come to PCB subject to government clearance,” an ICC board member privy to developments told PTI on Wednesday.

Following the rejection of the “Hybrid Model” proposal put out by PCB chairman Najam Sethi by the majority of its member countries, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is almost certain to move the Asia Cup 2023 to Sri Lanka.

The Hybrid model called for India to play their games in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi while Pakistan would have played all of its games in Pakistan.

However, should they make it to the Super Fours, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have expressed concerns about travelling back and forth between Pakistan and the UAE.

Pakistan would not take part in the competition if it is moved to Sri Lanka, according to an ACC source.
