World Cup 2023 Injury list: List of injured players ahead of ODI World Cup

The World Cup 2023 will kick-start on October 5 with the defending champs England taking on finalists of 2019 WC New Zealand.

The 2023 World Cup is approaching fast. However, plans of several prominent camps including South Africa, Australia, England, and India have suffered injury blows with the WC less than three weeks away. In this article, we will take a look at the players who are ruled out of the tournament and players who are likely to make a comeback at the later stages of the competition. Let us take a look:

As many as 10 teams will play at the tournament. The list includes India, New Zealand, England, Australia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan and South Africa, all of whom qualified based on their results in ODI cricket since the 2019 World Cup. On the other hand, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands earned their spots via qualifying tournament earlier this year.

Dushmantha Chameera: Shoulder injury (Sri Lanka)
Dilshan Madushanka: Oblique muscle (Sri Lanka)
Najmul Hossain Shanto: Hamstring (Bangladesh)
Tim Southee: Fractured right thumb (New Zealand)
Darly Mitchell: Dislocated ring finger (New Zealand)
Shreyas Iyer: Stress fracture in the back (India)
Axar Patel: Multiple hits to finger, forearm and hamstring (India)
Travis Head: Left hand fracture (Australia)
