Women’s T20 World Cup: Harmanpreet Kaur required the attention of the team physio on a few instances during the Indian women’s cricket team’s loss to South Africa in the final of a T20I Tri-series on Thursday in East London, in addition to leaving the field for a while. The physiotherapist was treating her left shoulder on both occasions, which raised questions about her health just days before the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023. The India skipper said she just needs a couple of days of rest and wants to be fully recovered for the major tournament beginning on February 10. “Body is fine. It will take two, three days and it will get better with rest,” the 33-year-old said during post-match presentation after India lost to South Africa by five wickets.
India are in Group B with England, Pakistan, the West Indies, and Ireland. The finalist teams for 2020 will face Pakistan in a highly anticipated match in Cape Town to kick off their campaigns.
India advanced unbeaten to the T20I tri-series final, which also featured West Indies, but they were defeated by a brilliant 50-run performance by Chloe Tryon, whose unbroken 57 was crucial on a difficult track where spinners predominated. After deciding to bat first, India battled to 109/4 in 20 overs, but their spinners put South Africa on the back foot before Tyron’s onslaught.
