Women T20 World Cup: Not just on the field, Bangladesh Women Cricket Team is facing a huge crisis off the field in SouthAfrica. The team has been rocked after a senior cricketer Shohely Akhter approached all-rounder Lata Mondal with spot-fixing. However, Lata was dropped for Australia match at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Bangladesh lost the game by 8 wickets on Tuesday. Bangladesh Cricket Board has launched an investigation into the allegations. Follow Women’s T20 WC LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
“The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is strictly looking into the matter and will investigate the issue,” RevSportz quoted BCB sources.
As per Bangladesh media, Shohely Akhter has admitted to receiving an offer from gambler Aakash. As per Akhter, she met Aakash on Facebook and approached Lata Mondal to prove the gambler wrong.

Phone conversation between Lata Mondal and Shohely Akhter:
Shohely Akhter: There is nothing to be afraid of. I will never harm you. You can fix when you want, and not fix when you don’t want to. If you feel like playing, you can. It’s up to you which match you want to play fix.
Shohely Akhter: Suppose you played well in a match, then you can play (fix) in the next match. You may get stumped or hit -wicket. If you say you won’t get hit-wicket for 20-30 lakhs then get stumped for 5 lakh. If you feel it is less then you can say it. Then I’ll tell my brother. Just remember that this is between you and me.
Lata Mandal: Friend, I’m not into all these. I can’t do such things. Please, don’t tell me such things.
Akhter: Friend, what I told you will remain between you and me. Trust me a hundred percent.
However, this is not the first time such incidents have come to light in Bangladesh cricket. Their superstar Shakib Al Hasan received a one-year suspension from the ICC for failing to report a corrupt approach.
Another prominent star Mohammad Ashraful is serving a life ban for fixing matches.
In 2013, BCB’s franchise T20 league Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) came under match fixing scandal. Ashraful was part of the conspiracy to fix matches when he was with now defunct franchise Dhaka Gladiators.
