Women IPL 2023 – Women IPL Teams: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released Tender document for the ownership of team in Women’s Indian Premier League. The Governing Council of the IPL has invited bids from reputed entities to acquire the right via a tender process. The last date to buy the Tender Document is set at January 21st. How to pick the TENDER? The detailed terms and conditions governing the tender process including eligibility requirements are contained in the ‘Invitation to Tender’ (“ITT”). The ITT can be bought with payment of a non-refundable fee of INR 5,00,000.
The process for submissions of bids, proposed team’s rights and obligations, etc. are contained in the ITT document. The ITT will be available for purchase till January 21, 2023.
Interested parties are requested to email the details of payment made for the purchase of the ITT to wipl.teams@bcci.tv , as per the procedure laid down in Annexure A. It is clarified that the ITT documents shall be shared only upon receipt of payment of the non-refundable fee as above.
BCCI reserves the right to cancel or amend the bidding process at any stage in any manner at its discretion.
What is the BASE PRICE of Women Team?
- The BASE PRICE is still not public. But according to available information can be in range of 400 Crore
- BCCI expect to fetch 1000 Cr plus revenue from each franchise
- Player PURSE for each team is likely to be in range of 35-40 CRORE
- BCCI has already come out with TENDER for Media Rights
Women IPL 2023 – WIPL Media Rights Tender: The BCCI has got BUMPER INTEREST for the Women IPL Media Rights Tender. The tender purchase date ended on 31st December. According to BCCI officials more than 10 parties including Disney Star, Sony Network, Viacom18 have picked the tender document. The interested parties will now have to submit their CLOSED BIDS by 12th January. Post the media rights tender, BCCI will sell the WIPL Franchises. The inaugral season of WIPL 2023 is likely to be played from March 3 to 26:
According to informed personnel in BCCI, other than regulars, Amazon Prime, Fancode, Times Internet, Google, Discovery have picked the Tender Documents.
It is worth noting that the BCCI hasn’t kept a base price for MEDIA RIGHTS Tender. After the MEDIA Rights winner is finalized, BCCI will come out with tender to sell the WIPL Franchises. According to the BCCI, MEDIA RIGHTS value will give potential franchise bidders clear-cut revenue visibility.
“We will be coming with franchise rights tender once Media Rights Tender is completed. We feel that is how the potential bidders can give us REAL VAULE for the franchises”, informed a BCCI offcial.

How & When BCCI will sell Women IPL Franchises? First thing first – As per info given by BCCI to InsideSport, the board will sell the women’s IPL franchises & the broadcast rights by way of a closed bid. Unlike for IPL & other BCCI rights the e-auction module will not be used.
The base price for each franchise is likely to be Rs. 400 Crore.
The BCCI has asked the existing men’s IPL team owners to participate in the bidding but the tender process is open to any and all investors who meet the cricket board’s minimum eligibility criteria. There is no guarantee whatsoever that should the bid of an existing IPL franchise owner and a new investor match, any preference shall be given to the existing franchise owner.
Women IPL 2023: The league will have five franchise-based teams that will play a total of 22 matches. Each team will have a maximum of 18 players in the squad including six foreign players.
In the league phase of the WIPL, each team will play the other twice (a total of 20 matches), and the table topper will progress straight to the final. The teams that finish second and third in the league will play an Eliminator to determine the second finalist.
