As per reports, Indian snack and restaurant firm Haldirams have expressed their interest in purchasing in the Women IPL. Haldirams picked up the document just a couple of days before the January 21 deadline. The ITT has been available for purchase for a non-refundable fee of Rs five lakh.
The BCCI has listed 10 Indian cities and the venues in the tender, which allows a single party to bid for more than one city. There is no base price set, and bids will be accepted for a 10-year period (2023-32).
WIPL 2023: Who is interested?
- All 10 IPL teams have purchased the ITT
- ILT20 owners Adani (Gulf Giants) and Capri Global (Sharjah Warriors) have also picked up the tender.
- Glazer Family, who own Manchester United, have also taken up the tender.
- Two cement companies – Chettinad Cement and JK Cement, have picked up the document.
- Chennai-based Shriram Group, Nilgiri Group and AW Katkuri Group are also in the fray.
- The GMR Group and JSW Group – joint owners of Delhi Capitals, have taken up separate ITT.
- APL Apollo and Haldiram are also in the fray.
The BCCI will open the sealed bids on January 25 and will announce the winner of the franchises. January 23 is the deadline to submit the technical bids for evaluation, which the BCCI will conduct along with the Mumbai-based law firm Argus Partners.
The worth of the teams will be more than expected.
WIPL 2023 Teams Auction – Why so much of interest?

- WIPL Media Rights Auction to give confidence to the POTENTIAL BUYERS
- From the media rights value, the teams will get at least Rs 25 crore initially (on 80:20 ratio) and they can earn up to 30 crore a season.
- This should take care of the large chunk of yearly franchise fee.
- WIPL Team Auction is scheduled for January 25th
- January 23 is the deadline to submit the technical bids for evaluation. The BCCI will conduct evaluation along with the Mumbai-based law firm Argus Partners.
Glazer Family unsuccessfully bid for both Lucknow and Ahmedabad franchises in 2021. However, they lost out to eventual winners CVC Capitals (Ahmedabad) and RPSG Group (Lucknow).
Defending IPL champions Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings all have confirmed that they will be bidding for WIPL Teams. The base price is not set and bids will be accepted for a 10-year period (2023-32).
The BCCI has earmarked March as the window for the WIPL in the tender. While the BCCI has not formally announced the dates for the inaugural season, it is expected to start around March 5 and finish around March 23.
