It is worth noting that WINZO which has Dhoni as its brand ambassador is also the Kolkata Knight Riders title sponsor. MPL on the other hand is BCCI and Indian Cricket team’s Jersey and Merchandise partner.

Dhoni vs Virat Kohli – Why Winzo has taken MPL to court? Winzo has alleged that MPL has copied it gaming format ‘World War’.
In March just before the IPL, Winzo had alleged that MPL has copied their proprietary format using an identical name. It was reported at that time that Winzo had notified MPL about the infringment at their end.
Winzo now says that MPL took down the format at that point of time. But started using it again under a different name in April.
The sequence of events led Winzo to send a legal notice to MPL.
Now ET reports that the matter is in Delhi High Court now. At the hearing on June 3rd, MPL’s counsel agreed to stop using the format. But for now the matter stands unresolved.

MPL Co-Founder Sai Srinivas informed about the move via internal memo to employees.
The Memo said the “philosophy of growth at all costs is now reversed” and that the “market is now rewarding profitable growth”.
