Wimbledon 2023: The most aniticipated Tennis event of the year is here. The Wimbledon is all set to kickstart from Monday, 3rd July 2023. Defending Champion Novak Djokovic is the favourite in the Men’s Singles. The Serbian is however entering the tournament as the second seed. World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz leads the Men’s Singles draw. In the Women’s Singles, Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka are the favourites.

Carlos Alcaraz leads first quarter

Section 1

Carlos Alcaraz will lead the Men’s Singles draw at SW 19 for the first time in his career. The top-seeded Spaniard will begin his campaign against France’s Jeremy Chardy in the first round. In the second he will also face a Frenchman in either Alexandre Muller or Arthur Runderknech.

15th seed Alex de Minaur is the next highest-ranked player in the quarter. The Australian is likely to face Alcaraz in the fourth round. He will begin his campaign against Kimmer Koppejeans in the first round. 19th seed Alexander Zverev is the other big name in the quarter. The German will kickstart his campaign against qualifier Gijs Brouwer.

Nicolas Jarry is the 25th seed. He is the only other seeded player in the section. He will face Marco Cecchinato in the first round. Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Sonego will set up a blockbuster all-Italian clash in the first round.

Section 2

Sixth seed Holger Rune is in the bottom-half of the first quarter. The 20-year old will face a wildcard entrant in Great Britain’s George Loffhagen in the first round. Rune is likely to set up clash against 10th seeded Frances Tiafoe in the fourth round. Tiafoe will open his campaign against Wu Yibing.

The other seeded players in the section are Grigor Dimitrov and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. While Dimitrov begins his campaign against qualifier Sho Shimabukuro, Fokina faces wildcard entrant Arthur Fils in the first round.

Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas in second quarter

World No.3 Daniil Medevdev leads the second quarter of the Men’s Singles draws. The third seed will face wildcard entrant Arthur Fery in the opening round. Medvedev has a relatively easier half in the quarter as Tommy Paul is the next top seed The 16th seed American will be his likely opponent in the fourth round. Paul will face qualfier Shintaro Mochizuki in the first round.

In the top-half of the second quarter, 8th seed Francisco Cerundolo and 28th seed Tallon Griekspoor are the other seeded players. Jiri Lehecka and wildcard entrant Sebastian Ofner will set up clash in the first round.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is the fifth seed. He has a relatively tougher draw. He will face Dominic Thiem in the first round. If he surpasses the test he is likely to face two-rime Wimbledon champion Andy Murray in the second round. Murray will begin his campaign by facing his compatriot Ryan Peniston in the opening round.

Another Briton in Cameron Norrie is also placed in the same quarter. Norrie will face qualifier Tomas Machac in the first round. The other seeded players are Americans 22nd seed Sebastian Korda and 32nd seed Ben Shelton. They will face Jiri Vesely and Taro Daniel respectively in the first round.

Casper Ruud and Jannik Sinner lead third quarter

Jannik SInner and Taylor Fritz are seeded eighth and ninth. Both the players are present in the top half of the third quarter. They are likely to set up blockbuster fourth round clash. While Sinner faces Juan Cerundolo, Fritz will be up against Yannick Hanfmann in the first round. Sinner is likely to face either Miomir Kecmanovic or Diego Schwartzman in the second round.

24th seed Yoshihito Nishioka is the next top seed in this half. The Japanese will face Daniel Galan in the opening round. 27th seed Dan Evans meanwhile takes on Quentin Halys in the first round.

Casper Ruud is the fourth seed and he leads the third quarter of the draw. Ruud has never gone past the second round in Wimbledon and he aims his best show this year. Ruud will begin his campaign against qualifier Laurent Lokoli. 13th seed Borna Coric, 20th seed Roberto Bautista Agut and 26th seed Denis Shapovalov are the other top players in this half.

Coric will face Argentina’s Guido Pella in the first round. Agut meanwhile begins his campaign against Roman Safiullin. Shapovalov faces a qualifier in Radu Albor in the opening round. The half also has four French player in Benjamin Bozi, qualifier Harold Mayot, Corentin Moutet and Richard Gasquet.

Novak Djokovic headlines final quarter

Andrey Rublev is the seventh seed and he headlines the top half in the final quarter. He will begin his campaign by facing Max Purcell in the first round. His opponent in the second round is likely to be his compatriot Aslan Karatsev, who faces Luca van Assche in the first round.

Last year’s runner-up Nick Kyrgios is the 30th seed. He is in the same quarter and a quarterfinal clash against Novak Djokovic is on the cards. The Australian has injury concerns. However he will be facing wildcard entrant David Goffin in the first round. Felix Auger Aliassime and Alexander Bublik are the other seeded players in the half.

Second seed Novak Djokovic will begin his title defence by facing Pedro Cachin in the first round. The Serbian’s likely opponent in the fourth round is expected to be Lorenzo Musetti. The Italian is the 14th seed and he will begin his campaign against JP Varillas.

17th seed Hubert Hurkacz and 29th seed Tomas Etcheverry are the only other seeded players in the half. Hutkacz will face Albert Ramos Vinolas in the first round. Etcheverry meanwhile will face another Spaniard in Zapatta Miralles in the opening round. Stan Wawrinka is also in this section. He takes on Emil Ruusuvuori in the opening round.

Women’s Singles

Iga Swiatek headlines first quarter

Swiatek, fresh off a successful Roland Garros title defence, will open against Zhu Lin. The top seed is in a relatively easier half in the first quarter. Other seeded players include 14th seed Belinda Bencic, 23rd seed Magda Linette and 30th seed Petra Martic.

Section 2

Seventh seed Coco Gauff leads the bottom half of the first quarter. The American teenager will begin her campaign by facing fellow cmpatriot Sofia Kenin. 11th seed Daria Kasatkina is likely to face her in the fourt round. The Russian will face Caroline Dolehide in the first round.

Victoria Azarenka is the 19th seed. She will begin her campaign by facing a qualifier in Yuan Yue in the first round.

Jessica Pegula and Caroline Garcia in second quarter

Jessica Pegula is the fourth seed, The American faces her compatriot Lauren Davis in the first round. She leads the top half of the quarter. Liudmila Samsonova is the next top seed here. The 15th seed will face Anna Bogdan in the first round.

Section 4

Caroline Garcia is likely to face Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinal. If she reaches the last-8 it will be her best-ever performance at SW19. She will begin her campaign against Katie Volynets in the first round. Former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez is likely to meet Garcia in the second round. Fernandez will face Kateryna Baindl in the first round.

12th seed Veronika Kudermetova, 20th seed Donna Vekic and 32nd seed Marie Bouzkova are the other notable names in the quarter.

Ons Jabeur and Elena Rybakina leads third quarter

Last year’s finalist Ons Jabeur enters the tournament this year as the sixth seed. She will be facing Magdalena Frech in the first round.

Ninth seed Petra Kvitova is expected to meet Jabeur in the fourth round. She will begin her campaign against Jasmine Paolini in the first round. 18th seed Karolina Pliskova and 26th seed Anhelina Kalinina are the seeded players in the quarter. Belinda Bencic is also present in this part of the draw. The Canadian will face Anna Bondar in the first round.

Defending champion Elena Rybakina is in the second half of the quarter. She does not have an easy route as she begins her campaign against USA’s Shelby Rogers. Rogers has notched seven Top 10 wins in her career and can give a tough challenge to Rybakina. In the second round, she could face Alizé Cornet, who upset Iga Swiatek last year.

13th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia will face Rybakina in the fourth round. Maia reached the semifinal this year at the French Open and is in good form. The Brazilian faces Yulia Putintseva in the first round.

No.8 seed Maria Sakkari is Sabalenka’s projected quarterfinal opponent. The Greek player is bidding to reach the quarterfinals of a Slam for the first time since the 2021 US Open, and will open against talented Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk. No.10 seed Barbora Krejcikova, fresh off the Birmingham final last week, is a potential fourth-round opponent for Sakkari.

Section 8

Sabalenka, whose best Wimbledon performance to date was her 2021 semifinal run, could have a chance for revenge in the fourth round. No.16 seed Muchova, who denied her from match point down in the Roland Garros semifinals, is her projected opponent. Sabalenka faces Panna Udvardy in the first round. Muchova meanwhile is the 16th seed. She faces Jule Niemier in the first round.
