Will 16th August Be The Last For Edge Before He Retires From WWE SmackDown?

The legendary and adored “Rated-R Superstar” Edge may be facing the end of his professional wrestling career this week when he squares off against Sheamus on the August 18, 2023, episode of SmackDown, which also happens to be the 25th anniversary of his WWE debut.

If this is the last match, it will be held in his native Toronto, Canada, a suitable spot to hang up his wrestling boots.

A day after WrestleMania 27 in 2011, Edge once again surprised the world. Unfortunately, it’s not because he’s taking advantage of situations or putting money in the bank. It was because the physicians warned him that continuing in his line of work could endanger his life given the seriousness of his neck injury. As a result, he had to leave his position early to prevent further harm to his already frail physique.

The fact that Edge was the World Heavyweight Champion at the time, having just successfully defended his title at the “Showcase of the Immortals” opener that year, made the situation even worse by requiring him to also give up the title.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio spoke extensively about Edge’s future plans and predicted that he would likely perform in his final match on SmackDown. The Rated-R Superstar earlier announced that he would call it quits during a performance this year in Canada.
