Zimbabwe will be ruing missing their chance of cementing their place in Super 12. After leaking 16 runs in the last over, the pressure was back on Zimbabwe. Sikandar Raza had put them in good stead with the ball, reducing Windies to 101/6 from 90/2. But with the bat, Zimbabwe’s aggressive approach did not work out.

Chasing a target of 154, Zimbabwe were off to a flyer. Although Regis Chakabva departed in the third over off an Alzarri Joseph delivery, they were in the hunt. But they lost quick wickets in the powerplay, posting 55/3 at the end of it. However, their aggressive approach didn’t pay off in the middle-over.
There were significant no partnerships in the middle overs as Jason Holder came to pick up 3 wickets, rattling the Zimbabwe middle-over. Once again, Alzarri Joseph who returned after bagging two wickets in the powerplay, dismissed Luke Jongwe and Richard Ngarava to all but end Zimbabwe’s hopes. From 58/3, Zimbabwe lost the last 7 wickets for 64 runs to be on brink of first-round exit.
Earlier, Akeal Hosein (23 off 18) and Rovman Powell (28 off 21) provided some much-needed boost in death, helping WestIndies post 153/7. Despite a brilliant start with Johnson Charles smashing 36-ball 45, WestIndies collapsed from 90/2 to 101/6. It was Sikandar Raza was the star in triggering the collapse with 3/19. But Hosein and Powell ensured West Indies have enough to defend on board. The two-time world champions will make an unceremonious exit from the T20 World Cup if they lose today.
Batting 1st, WestIndies lost the wicket of Kyle Myers early. Muzarabani got Myers for just 13 (12). Johnson Charles (45 off 36) weaved 49 runs partnership with & Evin Lewis (15 off 18). But as soon Raza came to bowl, floodgates of regular wickets opened up.
