But England were off to the worst possible start with the visitors losing three wickets inside the first nine overs. Joe Root at No 3 also failed while Dan Lawrence did not make much difference. While Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow stitched together a 67-runs stand, Stokes was cleaned up by youngster Jayden Seales.

But Ben Foakes and Jonny Bairstow built a 99-run stand to anchor the innings. After Ben Foakes was trapped leg before by Jason Holder, Jonny Bairstow completed his century to take England past the 250-run mark. Bairstow and Woakes played out the final overs as England ended the day on 268/6, just 32 shy of the 300-run mark in what is a remarkable turnaround by the visitors.

In continuation of the ongoing England tour of West Indies series, England would be desperate to get a series victory after losing the T20I series 3-2 on the last match. England has undergone a massive change in their lineup with pacers James Anderson and Stuart Broad being the key missouts. Though the pacers were not to be fully blamed for England’s horrible performance in the Ashes 2022, experts claim it was the fault of the batters who failed to perform big for their side.
