Many of the streamers who switched platforms spoke about their reasons for the change. It generally boils down to one of two different factors, and this article will discuss both of them.

Why are streamers opting for YouTube over Twitch?

Since 2021, fans have seen a large number of Twitch streamers shifting over to YouTube. This includes the likes of Valkyrae, Ludwig, and several others. These creators even spoke about their switch on their first YouTube streams or posted videos explaining why they made the decision.

One of the most common motivating factors behind the change that the creators could be heard saying was the difference in pay. Almost every streamer confessed that they were being lowballed by Twitch and YouTube offered them a deal that was much more beneficial for them. Naturally, they opted for the red platform due to this.

Myth, who is the latest streamer to jump on to the YouTube bandwagon also stated the pay difference as a major motivating factor behind his decision. Speaking about the pay offered at YouTube, Myth said,

“It was an amount that would have been stupid for me to turn down imo for where I am in my life. That’s the best way to put it. YouTube’s taking care of the boy.”

However, another factor that was stated by the likes of Valkyrae was that they would get a lot more creative freedom on YouTube than Twitch. Valkyrae has emerged into quite the business woman ever since her shift to YouTube. Not only did the streaming giant become the co-owner of 100 Thieves, she also launched two different lines of merchandise and dipped her feet into other business ventures as well. Valkyrae stated that Twitch’s streaming hours did not leave much room for anything else, which was not the case with YouTube.

The Among Us streamer stated that her YouTube streaming hours allowed her the time to indulge in a lot of other activities that she was interested in, making the offer a lot more tempting for her.

In the case of TimTheTatman, Dr DisRespect was a motivating factor behind his shift to YouTube. The streamer is popular for his Call of Duty streams with the Two-Time. However, due to Doc’s infamous Twitch ban, the streamer was unable to livestream his games with Dr DisRespect. Naturally, when all other factors aligned for him on YouTube, his choice was obvious.

Although Twitch is still the biggest platform for content creators on the internet, it seems like YouTube is not far behind with the amount of benefits it offers to its streamers. Based on the trend so far, fans can expect to see many more creators announcing their shift in the coming days.
