Chelsea blew the lead twice to fall to a defeat away at West Ham courtesy of a bizarre late winner from Arthur Masuaku at the London Stadium.
The visitors edged into the lead in the 29th minute when Thiago Silva headed Mason Mount’s corner past Łukasz Fabiański. Silva was called into action down the other end immediately when he was on hand to clear Vladimír Coufal’s goal-bound shot off the line.
David Moyes’ side were given a route back into the match when Edouard Mendy was caught on the ball by Jarrod Bowen before hauling the Hammers forward down in the penalty area. Manuel Lanzini stepped up and made no mistake from the spot to level proceedings.
However, there was one more twist just before half time as Chelsea restored their advantage through Mount, who caught Hakim Ziyech’s looping pass on the volley to squeeze in at Fabiański’s near post.
The hosts came from behind to level again ten minutes into the second half, with the ball falling for Bowen at the edge of the area to sweep into the bottom corner with a left-footed drive.

And then came the crushing blow for Thomas Tuchel’s men as in the 87th-minute Masuaku’s attempted cross bizarrely confused Mendy and ended up in the back of the net to earn a remarkable victory for the Hammers. Chelsea could fall down to third if both Liverpool and Manchester City win later on Saturday while West Ham have closed the gap to third place to just four points.

West Ham United have achieved something no other club has managed so far this season. 55 minutes into their clash with Chelsea at the London Stadium Jarrod Bowen equalized to level the scoreline at 2-2.
In doing so, it has become the first time that Thomas Tuchel’s side have conceded more than once this season.
22 games in all competitions, 11 clean sheets, 13 conceded but now only for the first time has Edouard Mendy been beaten twice.
