While Virat Kohli has made a strong comeback in white-ball formats, his performances in Test cricket haven’t been up to his usual standards. He recently ended a long wait for a Test century during the fourth and final match against Australia earlier this year. However, in the WTC final, he seemed poised for a big score in the second innings but got out chasing a wide delivery outside the off-stump. His dismissal triggered a batting collapse, resulting in a 209-run loss for India.

Meanwhile, Team India had a fantastic day with the bat on Day 2 of the first Test against West Indies. They built a commanding lead of 162 runs with eight wickets in hand by the end of the day’s play. Debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased remarkable composure and skill, remaining unbeaten on 143. Kohli also looked solid, scoring 36 not out off 96 balls. Captain Rohit Sharma shone with a brilliant century, scoring 103.

The only downside of the day was Shubman Gill’s failure in his first Test innings at number three. Jomel Warrican dismissed Gill early in his innings, as he could only manage 6 runs. Kohli came to the crease after Gill’s dismissal and batted alongside Yashasvi throughout the final session of the day. In the Caribbean, He will have his sights set on scoring a substantial innings, hoping to ignite a renewed phase of success in Test cricket.
