Khabib Nurmagomedov is an excellent football player, but he’s also a ‘Dagestan’ style basketball player who can pack a punch. It turns out that Dagestani basketball is a peculiar fusion of basketball, rugby, and mixed martial arts combined into one unusual but surprisingly thrilling sport.
The sport of rugby that Khabib has been playing for a time is known as “Dagestan Basketball.” It was truly a potent fusion of basketball and rugby. Obviously, the rules are a little different in Dagestan, and instead of playing, you can actually attack and fight one other!

The MMA fight is just as violent, even though it may not be on the same level as an NBA game or even a college match. Nurmagomedov even attempted to use a rear naked choke to finish his opponent throughout the fight.
The goal of the sport is to warm up the competitors before they practise their grappling techniques, not to have a good time with friends.
Most Dagestani fighters who compete in the sport are frequently fasting without food or water during Ramadan while they play. While the strenuous game would likely weary the typical person simply after a few minutes of play, it is not uncommon for them to be fasting without food or water.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s recent video post shows him playing Dagestani Basketball along with his teammates, as he captioned the post “ Rugby, a game for skilful and courageous.”
Nurmagomedov has previously dabbled in various sports; in 2021, he trained and competed for FC Legion Dynamo, a team that competed in the Russian third division. But it’s probably safe to conclude that rather than coaching and playing in football and basketball, the “Eagle” is best at sticking with MMA.
